Ocean Park, Hong Kong as the title states is an ultimate fun experience for the adventure lovers. It is well known for its marine mammal, oceanarium, animal theater and amusement park situated in the southern district of Hong Kong. The park was opened in 1977 by the Governor of Hong Kong Sir Murray MacLehose. Ocean Park houses around 80 attractions after the rise of 5.5 billion Master Redevelopment Plan. The park is world’s seventh largest Park one of the most visited tourist attraction in the world by forbes magazine. It is the first theme park to win an applause award in the international amusement park and attraction awards. This iconic park received 7.79 million visitors in 2014 making it world’s 13th most visited theme park and largest in Asia. The park is situated in the scenic valley separated by large mountain. This area can be reached either by cable car or Ocean express train.
The theme park has wide range of attractions and rides which includes 40 rides,4 roller coasters, 2 water rides and also exhibits different themes such as giant panda, jelly fish, aquarium and as well as a dome which features more than 5000 fishes. In 1979 and 1997, Ocean Park was famous for its whale and Miss Hoi water.
Ocean Park is committed to merge entertainment and education. It is the first theme park in the world to have success in artificial insemination of dolphins. It is a Southeast Asia’s largest and newest aquarium with a massive 3-storey attraction that will house 5,000 fish from 400 species and contain the world’s biggest aquarium viewing dome. There is a show called Symbio, which is performed by dancing lights, fireworks and light music with a projector been used to explain the story.
Ocean Park is divided into two main attraction areas: the Waterfront and the Summit, which can be further divided into eight different attractive zones: Amazing Asian Animals, Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Marine World, Polar Adventure, Adventure Land, Thrill Mountain and the Rainforest. There is a roller coaster called hair raiser which is the thrilling and most exciting coaster designed at the top level of the peak which focuses the ocean while the ride is on.By the end of December 2012, Ocean Park achieved a record-breaking calendar year with an annual attendance of nearly 7.5 million guests, among half of whom were from Mainland China.
